JOB SUMMARY

The Pharmacist and Senior Director manages a variety of evidence-based, medicine programs to increase access to medicine globally. The Pharmacist and Sr. Director’s role is to build the capacity for MAP to respond to our partners’ needs, the readiness to enhance quality and equity, and more effectively drive increased volumes, partnerships, and numbers of countries that MAP serves. The Sr. Director will be responsible for driving revenues per our annual budget for the teams that report into this role. In addition to program management, the Senior Director supervises program staff, supports quality improvement initiatives on the team, and supports the VP of Operations with overall strategy development and implementation. They will work closely with members of the team to ensure good pharmaceutical practices and compliance with national regulations, and may also liaise with government officials on supply chain issues. As a pharmacist you will be asked to evaluate the availability and quality of drugs being considered for receipt, gift-in-kind donation, or to maintain or improve upon certain tools or systems.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PHARMACEUTICAL and GIFT IN KIND (GIK) MANAGEMENT
• Research each drug donation in collaboration with MAP’s Review Team and advise of any encumbrances such as cold chain, hazmat and controlled substances.
• Apply clinical understanding of the potential application/impact of new GIK drug offers
• Support MAP’s strategic pharmaceutical growth, including GIK selection parameters and scorecard, and strategic support for growth of MAP’s pharmaceutical purchasing efforts
• Ensure that MAPs receipt and allocation of GIK product and purchased meds are in accordance with State and Federal licenses.
• Lead adverse event trainings required by donor pharmaceutical companies.
• Develop and allocate PrePacks with available inventory meeting MAP’s requirements in specific therapeutic classifications
• Support MAP’s certification processes
• Work with program staff to assure all quality control measures are met to meet donor MoUs, OFAC and BIS restrictions

TEAM MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGIC PLANNING
• Oversee the program management team
• Independently direct the initiatives and programs mentioned above
• Lead and oversee the initiatives that drive Partnership Engagement
• Collaborate with VP of Operations in driving strategic growth and program development
• Create strategies with specific action plans to achieve individual and team revenue goals (service fees) for MAP
• Manage program related budgets, program plans, resource allocation, and data-driven metrics for programs team
• Collaborate across teams to support fundraising and communications teams to provide content for updates, reports, and meetings
• Assist with emergency response efforts as needed
• Assist with other program and organization efforts as needed
• Develop and maintain policy and process as it relates to programs team, GIK product, and purchased meds
• Making critical staffing decisions such as hires, promotions, etc.
• Foster MAP values of Trust, Collaboration, Accountability, Diligence, and Passion

PROGRAM AND ‘MONITORING & EVALUATION’ (M&E) OPTIMIZATION
• Develop and maintain an over-all organization matrix working with designated team to develop metrics such as number of treatments for each item distributed.
• Strengthen global partner network by providing strategic direction for growing MAP’s programmatic footprint globally, including innovative program approaches, enhanced funding support, and enhanced partnership capacity.
• Lead targeted M&E requirements for major partners
• Assist with the designing and formatting of program materials
• Direct M&E team to build a robust M&E process to improve M&E data quality
• Liaise with colleagues in the development of enhanced partner resources
• Improve M&E quality as required by regulatory agencies and other key stakeholders


ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
This position will report to the VP of Operations. Direct reports will be the Director of Partnership Development, Sr. Manager of International Partnership Development, and Sr. Manager of Programs.


QUALIFICATIONS
All candidates should meet the requirements below, be eligible to work in the United States, and currently reside in the US.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• Relevant degree in pharmacy (such as a PharmD) with a minimum of two years relevant professional experience post training required
• Minimum ten (10) years of business and/or program management experience required, preferably in a non-profit program management setting
• Minimum ten (10) years experience managing staff required


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Experience in Gift In Kind donations, preferred.
• Superior project management skills, strong attention to detail, and demonstrated multi-tasking ability
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
• Periodic travel to relevant conferences and meetings, and periodic partner site visits
• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
• Able to analyze complex and heterogeneous data
• Able to ensure data quality control
• Able to perform rational use of prescription analysis
• Able to ensure quality control on drug management
• Knowledge of drug: action, interaction, and side effects
• Able to evaluate the quality level of patient therapy education
• Familiar with cold chain principles
